extreme home makeover - montgomery

For the past week the crew of ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition has been in Montgomery building a home for one deserving family. I went out there both Saturday and Sunday and it was amazing to see the difference in just 24 hours. There are so many workers, you can really see how it gets done in just 1 week. Saturday Lee and I just went out to watch and see all the action. On Sunday, I went and helped Mom do lunch for the VIP tent. It was a very neat experience and I got to meet Eduardo!

Saturday afternoon - dirt work and shingling the house

Sunday before lunch - almost finished with the outside.

Click on the video below to watch!

They only did this about 8 times...

It will be interesting to see how it's really going to air.

It was also Eduardo's birthday on Thursday.

Mom got a cake for him and he came over to see it.

The big "Move That Bus" reveal was yesterday when the family came home. We didn't go watch and attempt to fight the big crowds. We'll get to see that on tv. It's suppose to air sometime in mid or end of April. The furniture going in was nice and I can't wait to see how the inside turned out! For more pictures and info - click here Extreme Montgomery.

v-day

Taking a walk on the wild side....

We had a great Valentine's day! Tripp even gave me a card he signed all by himself. We spent the afternoon at the zoo. It was sorta cool, but still really nice outside. Tripp loved going to see each animal. As soon as we pulled him up, he would stand up on his stroller and look and point.

Look at the cougar!

Smiling at the monkeys.

We ended our trip with a ride on the train. He loved this!

Too busy to stand still by the train, maybe next time... yeah right.

We got home and he was so tired, and eventually passed out on his chair watching his new movie. I was in the kitchen and thought he was sitting in his chair, and I looked up and didn't see his little head, so I thought he had gotten up. Instead I found him like this...

It was nice that he went to sleep kinda early because we enjoyed a nice dinner that Lee cooked and watched Nights in Rodanthe. Not going to spoil it for anyone, but I was not happy with the ending.

Tripp got a new Thomas the Train dvd for Valentines and to say he likes watching it is an understatement. He's never been a big tv-watcher, usually he can't sit still long enough, but Thomas can definitely hold his attention. I think I've memorized two songs and all the trains. He also got a James train too for Valentines. He had a sad parting with James this morning in the car when we got to school. He really wanted to take him inside. I think we need to start saving for a train table...

finally a day outside!

We had a great weekend playing outside! Tripp loves to be outside and since it was so nice out on Saturday we headed to the country. Lee wanted to go anyway, so I told him if we could take the golf cart then Tripp and I would go too. He didn't waste anytime getting it, and off we went.

Helping Daddy drive... He loves doing this. Don't worry, we were on the dirt road almost at the house.

The boys were burning the under brush, so Tripp and I had a great time riding around and playing on the tractors and trailers. He even found a little cooler his size to drag around.

Me - "Tripp smile for Mommy..."
Tripp - "No" and looks the other way.

He loves riding on the golf cart. If he sees it, he'll yell constantly "gol car" "gol car" until he can get on.

Sunday was even prettier (shorts attire) so we played outside for a while. He had fun pushing his lawn mower and playing with bubbles.

We had so much fun, we can't wait until we have weather like this everyday! I don't think it's sticking around long this time, but hopefully soon!

so sweet...

Back in November I posted about our trip to Raleigh, NC for Mary Peyton's wedding. The professional pictures were just posted online and they are beautiful. I just had to share a few. Tripp was the cutest little ring bearer ever...
With the beautiful bride! These boys were so precious together!

I love this picture of us!
These were only taken a few months ago, but he already looks so different. Yesterday he turned 19 months, and is getting very independent. We can hardly make it through the grocery store without him climbing up to get out of the buggy or high chair during meal time. He's still a picky eater, although this weekend he saw his bud Price eating broccoli and decided he had to have some too. Maybe that's why he eats so well at school since all his friends are eating the same thing.

I have to go to Mobile this week for work, it'll be the longest amount of time I've been away from him so far. I am looking forward to the trip and getting away for a little bit, but I know I am going to miss him so much!!

mia

It's been a few weeks since I posted... Tripp came down with the dreaded RSV virus a couple weeks ago and then passed some of it right along to me. But we are both doing better and Lee managed to steer clear. Nothing too exciting happening now...

We have been busy though... First, Tripp moved into his new big boy room. We switched his room with the spare because it's a lot bigger and now all of his toys are in there, they use to be in the living room. They were overtaking the room and had to go.

The same week we did his room, he also got a new big boy swing set too!! We were graciously given a gently loved huge Rainbow play system! I am so thankful, knowing these things cost a thousand or more dollars, we were very excited to receive it. Lee and Neal spent all afternoon putting it together and Tripp loves it. Too bad it's back to freezing outside and hasn't been back out there much. But we can't wait till it warms up again!
Uncle Neal and Tripp playing on the swing set! Yes, he is wearing shorts, I believe it was close to 80 degrees outside! And now it's 30! No wonder we were all sick!

Tripp's been to work with me several days this month between being sick and out of school for the holidays. He loved wandering around and playing, although he really wanted to bang on my keyboard the whole time.

He is getting so big and so tall. He is talking non-stop and always is full of energy. I was telling someone the other day that he never "winds-down" at night. We usually put him to bed around 8:15-8:30 and he jumps in his crib till he falls asleep. He doesn't cry, just jumps! His class has started doing art projects and I love seeing his "artwork" and putting it up on the frig. Just another thing that reminds me how old he's getting!

down on the farm

We traveled down to Dothan the weekend after Christmas to visit my mom's side of the family. We had a great time visiting and catching up with lots of cousins and Tripp had a blast running around the barn playing. He loved climbing up on Uncle Fred's big tractors. We had a great time and can't wait to go back soon!!

They even had one his size...

18 months!

Tripp turned 18 months on Christmas day! He really timed it out great, receiving presents exactly six months apart! Lee took him to the doctor this morning for his well check up and he had a great visit. First of all, I think the doctor gives special favoring to dads because they were in and out of there in less than an hour. That never happens to me on a well check visit. The appt was at 8:45 and he called me at 9:30 leaving!! Last night I was preparing him for a long wait and even longer wait in the little room once he's called back. I told him he was going to have a new found appreciation for me doing all the doctor visits. Now he thinks I am crazy because it was so easy and quick.

Anyways, he did get a couple shots but other than that everything was good. He weighed 24 lbs (25%) and is 33 inches tall (70%) and his head is 19 3/4 inches around (95%). He didn't gain much weight from 15 months, but he did grow about 3 inches!! I should have known, he can now reach the door knob and pull the door closed.

He is now talking non-stop. We counted last night how many words he can say, and we got to 20 and stopped. He knows what a lot of animals say and his new favorite thing is trains. He also loves tractors and cars. He is still sleeping pretty good. He eats when and what he wants, but lately he's done better. His new favorite is cheese grits! He is getting tired of being in a high chair and it's usually a struggle getting him in it and keeping him in it. I think he is really starting to learn how to test his/our limits. He will fuss more if he doesn't get his way, and he thinks its funny when we say no. He does love telling the dogs no no and usually will point his little finger at them.

He still amazes me every day and we are so thankful!!
We love you Tripp and can't believe you are growing so fast and getting so big!

We went over to the Mancil's on Saturday and Martha pulled out some cookies to frost and Tripp also decorated a birthday cake for Jesus. He loved licking the frosting the most!!

Singing Happy Birthday Jesus.
(He really thought we were singing to him.)

Blowing out the candle!

Mmmm Mmmm Good!
